Do’s and Dont’s of GPS tracking installation
Do: Choose a mounting location high in the dash with no metal obstructions above the device.
Do: Make sure all wires are routed neatly throughout the dash. Do: Make sure to verify all connections with a multimeter.
Do: Make sure all connections are solid Do: Make sure that the vehicle is outside before you begin testing
Don’t: Mount the device under the steering column or in any other location where it can be easily discovered.
Don’t: Let the device hang loose in the dash, it should be mounted using double side tape or Velcro.
Don’t: Use Scotch Locks or T-Taps to make any connections.
Don’t: Ground the device to a bolt or screw that is used to secure a trim panel.
Don’t: Attempt to test the device inside of a garage or under a metal awning that can obstruct the antenna’s view of the sky.

Verify LED Status:
Orange=GSM/GPRS
Blinking-searching for cellular signal.
Solid-cellular registered.
Green=GPS
Blinking-searching for GPS signal.
Solid-GPS lock.

How To Register Your Garmin Nuvi

Registration of Garmin Nuvi is available to owners of original Garmin Nuvi in Kenya. Registering Garmin Nuvi helps ensure that your device receives all important updates that will keep it working as it should. You can be certain that you have current maps, warranty protection and proof that you own the specific device should you lose it. You can register your Nuvi by connecting the device to your computer, logging on to your Garmin account and following a few simple instructions.

Step 1

Open your computer’s Web browser (Firefox Mozilla or Internet Explorer) and navigate to the Garmin registration website. Click “Automotive” in the Product Registration categories.

Step 2

Enter the email address and password associated with your Garmin account. Click “Create One” if you do not have a Garmin account or choose to sign in with a social network profile, such as Facebook or Twitter, by clicking the corresponding button. Follow any additional prompts to log in as a Garmin user.

Step 3

Connect your Nuvi to your computer using the USB cable provided with the Garmin. Click “Continue” to install the Garmin Communicator Plugin and agree to the software agreement terms. Click “Allow to Proceed” and open your browser window again when the installation is complete.

Step 4

Make sure the device information appears correct and click “Continue.”

Step 5

Enter the required information if you created a new account to register your Nuvi and click “Next,” or simply click “Next” if you used an existing account. Your Nuvi is now registered with Garmin.
